March of Diapers (with Machinist Union 751)

Starting March 1st CRBS will be participating in the March of Diapers campaign!  Please join us in donating diapers and wipes from March 1-30 for this wonderful cause.

Why donate?

Diapers are not covered by social welfare systems like WIC or food stamps because they are considered a “hygiene item”.  Social Service agencies continually have shortages and families are sometimes forced to use one diaper a day for their babies or wash out a disposable and reuse it.  CRBS along with many communities in conjunction with The Machinist Union 751 are ready to help babies “One Tush at a Time” by collecting much needed diapers and wipes.

Collection boxes will be placed in the Reception Areas at all three Centers so that donors can also participate.  We will run this campaign the entire month of March and hope that we can all come together to make this successful.

Staff and donors can purchase a paper CRBS Heart? at front desks for $1, $5 or a larger contribution to help raise money to fund May’s Sack Lunches for Homeless Tacoma and June’s MultiCare Tree House Host-A-Meal. Donors and employees can put their name on to display after making a donation. These may possibly be on display in Refreshment Centers at all 3 branches.

Catholic Community Services/Nativity House Sack Lunches for Homeless Tacoma

CRBS will provide sack lunches to feed Tacoma’s homeless community. Each lunch will contain a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, fruit, juice, pretzels or chips, cookies. Our goal is to prepare 200 lunches.

MultiCare Tree House Host-A-Meal

MultiCare Tree House offers housing for immediate family members when their loved ones receive medical care at a MultiCare hospital. Priority is given to families who have children at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital or in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Tacoma General Hospital.

The Host-A-Meal program provides a dinner to the families staying at the Tree House.

United Way School Supply Drive/Build-A-Backpack

Each fall, kids return to school with backpacks full of supplies. These pencils, notebooks and erasers are a critical part of being prepared for school. Yet for families struggling to make ends meet, obtaining these supplies can be a burden.

Help more kids start the year with the quality supplies they need to succeed by donating these items or cash to purchase these items.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Food drive to furnish non-perishable food items to community food banks. (contributions will be divided up and distributed to Auburn, Puyallup, Tacoma, etc. food banks)

Salvation Army Giving Tree

(Puyallup & Tacoma Only)

Purchase holiday gifts for seniors and children in need in our community. Gifts for seniors must be gift wrapped. Gifts for children must not be gift wrapped. This program has been successful at our Tacoma center for many years and this year we will begin to offer it in Puyallup as well.
