By volunteering your time you become an integral part of a lifesaving connection. Your time is as vital and valuable to us as a blood donation, as you contribute to your community in a very special way.

Donor Monitor and Refreshment Center

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor blood donor safety following donation.
  • Provide a positive, customer-service oriented environment.
  • Observe donors for adverse reactions following the donation process.
  • Serve refreshments necessary for the replacement of vital body fluids.
  • Assist as needed in rebooking blood donors for next donation appointment.
  • Alert staff immediately if reactions occur.
  • Maintain a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere for donors.
  • A desire to help and excellent communication skills are required.
  • Must be dependable, friendly, attentive, and enjoy people.
  • Mobility necessary in order to serve refreshments.
  • A working and accessible email address is required to remain current in this position.

Volunteers will take part in one required training session.

To start the process of becoming a volunteer, please fill out the volunteer application to the left. You will receive an email confirmation once your application has been submitted. Please be sure to check your spam or junk mail folder.

Within two weeks you will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule an interview. Please allow a little more time around holidays to account for office closures. If you are provided an interview time, it is important to complete all required paperwork that is included in your confirmation email and bring it with you to the interview. At the interview, you will discuss training, placement and next steps with a coordinator. Part of your next steps will include a background check and will include a Drug Testing. You will be provided with directions to a Lab.

We realize that you are eager to join our volunteer team. It can take up to a month or more to become a new volunteer. This is because we must follow a very detailed process to ensure a safe and healthy environment for you, our patients and visitors.
