Recognition: School Drive Partners

Pierce College – October 7, 2009

On Wednesday, October 7, Pierce College held a very successful blood drive. At this drive, 45 donors were registered and 24 were first-time donors.

Sponsoring this blood drive for Pierce College was the Student Activities group and the drive coordinator was Kevin Gowrylow, who is also the Health and Wellness coordinator. Kevin did a great job of signing up students and making reminder calls for the blood drive. This is one of the largest turnouts ever at Pierce College, due in great part to the commitment that Kevin and the group had to making the drive successful. Cascade Regional Blood Services (CRBS) thanks the group for all of their hard work and support of blood drives at Pierce College.

Blood drives at Pierce College help CRBS maintain an adequate blood supply to Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Clare Hospital, Tacoma General and the rest of our community hospitals. Pierce College is a great community partner and CRBS is looking forward to continuing that partnership for years to come.

CRBS thanks all of the students and staff for their support and wishes them another great year with all their other activities also.

Pierce College- May 18, 2009

On May 18, Pierce College hosted a very successful blood drive. At this drive, 52 students were registered. This was 22 donors over our set goal! There were also 23 new donors. Cascade Regional Blood Services (CRBS) would like to thank the sponsor group, the Student Activities group, and the blood drive coordinator, Carson Davis. With very low signups leading into the final days before the drive, everyone worked hard and made a significant impact.

One of the keys to success of this drive is the location where the bloodmobile is parked. That can be a challenge since parking is in high demand there, as it is with most all schools. The college allows CRBS to park the bloodmobile directly in front of the college center. This spot allows for maximum visibility, which increases traffic for the blood drive. As a result of the success of Pierce College blood drives, CRBS is looking forward to extending the hours for next year’s blood drives!

We would like to thank the students and faculty of Pierce College. Their commitment to successful blood drives helps CRBS maintain an adequate blood supply to our community hospitals, including Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Joseph Medical Center and Tacoma General Hospital.

Pierce College - October 1, 2008

On October 1, Pierce College held an extremely successful blood drive, one of the largest ever at Pierce College. With a goal of 30, there were 46 donors registered. The blood drive was sponsored by the Student Activities group and coordinated by Erin O’Shaughnessy. The great amount of work they put into the preparation was apparent by the results.

Pierce College allows Cascade Regional Blood Services (CRBS) to park the bloodmobile directly in front of the college center. This location is great for visibility and creates a tremendous amount of buzz for the blood drive.

Pierce College, home of the Raiders, conducts blood drives every 56 days during the school year. As a result of the great success at this drive, the hours and goal of the next drive have been increased.

CRBS would like to thank the students and staff at Pierce College for their continued support. This support enables us to maintain an adequate blood supply to Good Samaritan and our other community hospitals. We are anxiously looking forward to the next blood drive at Pierce College and another great turn-out.

Pierce College – October 17 & 18, 2007

Pierce College in Lakewood stepped up and duplicated the great results that Pierce College Puyallup had a couple of weeks earlier. Andrea Ehlis was the drive coordinator and did a great job of encouraging students and faculty to donate during this drive.

The college sponsored a two day drive and exceeded their goal of 25 donors on both days. The first day they registered 29 donors and the second they registered another 26. The totals units collected during this drive are the largest number collected in several years.

Thanks to Andrea and everyone at Pierce College for their efforts and the great results. The support for Cascade Regional Blood Services and our community blood supply is always needed and appreciated. The units collected at their drive will directly help patients in need at our area community hospitals.
