On Friday, October 23, Foss High School held their first blood drive of the school year. The drive was a smashing success, 133 students were registered and 90 were first time donors! Coordinating the blood drive was Alice Jean Edwards, an English teacher at Foss High School. She does a great job of working with the students in the Agnes Foss Club. She did a wonderful job helping the students of the Agnes Foss Club prepare for the blood drive. The group signed up students prior to the blood drive and assisted in the refreshment center throughout the day. Their hard work helped make the day go very smoothly.
The students at Foss High School have had a great year thus far. The Football team has a winning record (4-3) and the Girls Varsity Volleyball team broke the five-year losing streak. They have two wins this year and most games have been extremely competitive. The following quote from the Foss students shows the pride they have in being a Falcon, “Everyday is a great day only if you can say I’m a Henry Foss Falcon, full of spirit and pride and I love to hold it down for Henry Foss High!”
Foss High School holds two blood drives per school year. The next drive is scheduled for Friday, May 21. Blood drives at Foss help Cascade Regional Blood Services (CRBS) maintain an adequate blood supply to Tacoma General Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, and the rest of our community hospitals. We are very much looking forward to the next drive at Foss High School and appreciate the great support they provide.
On Friday, December 5, Foss High School put together another fantastic blood drive. The drive was goaled at 125, and was exceeded with 133 people registering to donate. There were also 91 first-time donors! Having so many new donors is a testament to the hard work of the sponsor group, Agnes Foss. The faculty, students and sponsor groups always do a fantastic job of making their blood drives a tremendous success.
The Agnes Foss group worked extremely hard in the days and weeks leading up to the blood drive. They conducted sign-ups, worked in the canteen, and even helped clean up after the drive was over. Cascade Regional Blood Services would like to thank the Agnes Foss group, along with their President, Charles LaRocco and Vice President, Sheilena League. They were instrumental in helping organize the blood drive.
Foss High School has had a very exciting first half of the school year. They competed in the finals for football, and also put together a great Homecoming Assembly, which is recognized state wide. Foss High School has also sponsored another successful food drive, clothing drive and electronics drive for the holiday season.
The blood drives at Foss High School, home of the Falcons, are extremely important in helping Cascade Regional Blood Services maintain an adequate blood supply to our community hospitals. Having a blood drive close to the holiday season is a great way to give back to the community. We thank Foss High School for their commitment and support to our mission.
