Chief Leschi Schools held their annual Halloween Blood Drive on October 20. At this drive, 17 donors were registered. Coordinating the blood drive was Cheryl Wapes-Mayes. She did an excellent job of motivating her 7th and 8th grade students, who went classroom to classroom to get sign - ups for the blood drive. The students also spoke at the SPTLA (Student Parent Teacher Association) to help bolster the sign-up numbers. They worked hard and did a phenomenal job of promoting the blood drive and getting students involved.
Cascade Regional Blood Services (CRBS) would like to thank all the students and staff at Chief Leschi Schools for their support. Their blood drives help CRBS maintain an adequate blood supply to St. Francis Hospital, Good Samaritan and Tacoma General Hospital, as well as the rest of our community hospitals. We are looking forward to the next blood drive at Chief Leschi Schools and appreciate the support they provide for CRBS and our community.

These groups of 7th and 8th grade students, while too young to donate themselves, were vital to the creation of this drive. They proved how important volunteers are to Cascade Regional Blood Services. These students spoke with the SPTLA (Student Parent Teacher Association) to promote the blood drive and also went from class to class asking staff and high school students to sign-up for appointments.
