Journey Community Church
During Journey Community Church's December blood drive, 30 members registered to donate blood. Because of this recent drive and their history of sponsoring successful drives during critical times of the year, they have been awarded the Cascade Regional Blood Services’ Blood Drive of the Month for December 2010.
Journey Community Church sponsored their first blood drive on June 28, 2009, bringing in 32 registered donors. For all six drives they have held since then, they have a grand total of 151 registered donors and have made a great contribution to helping CRBS save lives in our community. Kazuhiko Griffin has been Journey’s Coordinator the entire time, helping to make sure each drive is a success. We are grateful for the support we receive from their blood drives and appreciate their members who continue to roll up their sleeves and share their precious gift with our community.
Lakeland Community and Top Food & Drug
Congratulations to Top Food and Drug for their continuous support as a blood drive sponsor in the Lakeland Community. The CRBS bloodmobile is parked outside of Top Food and Drug the first Saturday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Providing a central location to conduct a regular monthly blood drive has enabled Cascade Regional Blood Services to provide a convenient opportunity for members of the community to donate in support of our area hospitals.
Our first community blood drive at Top Food and Drug took place in January 2003. Since then, we have registered a total of 784 donors. As part of their sponsorship, Top Food and Drug posts fliers, makes announcements to their staff and customers during the drives, and encourages the community to participate.
Congratulations and thank you to the Lakeland Community and Top Food and Drug for being our heroes. Blood donors do save lives.
Intel
Congratulations to Intel for being the CRBS October 2010 Blood Drive of the Month! Intel is a long-time supporter of CRBS, hosting two blood drives annually since 1996.
The Intel drive coordinators, Rick Meeder, Scott Jones and Karen Kimmel, continue to work extremely hard promoting their blood drives. They also ensure each drive runs smoothly and efficiently while accommodating the busy schedules of their employees. Intel employees are a relaxed and friendly group of donors who have a lot of fun at their drives and enjoy their post-donation goodies – chocolate milk and homemade Snicker Doodle cookies provided by Karen. Over the past 14 years, Intel has registered nearly 1200 donors! This fantastic support for CRBS and our area hospitals is truly appreciated!
DeVry University
Congratulations to everyone at DeVry University for being selected as the Blood Drive of the Month for September 2010. DeVry University has partnered with Cascade Regional Blood Services to help save lives in our community since 2002. They have hosted 42 blood drives and we have registered a total of 644 donors. A special thanks goes to Bob Boerst, Human Resources Manager, Pacific NW, for his dedication and hard work in making the blood drives a success. We look forward to many more years of our partnership.
Lighthouse Christian Center
Cascade Regional Blood Services is pleased to recognize Lighthouse Christian Center in Puyallup as our August 2010 Blood Drive of the Month. For the past three years, Lighthouse has conducted blood drives each August. They consistently provide outstanding results, registering 30+ donors. This is an especially important time of the year since blood inventories always reach a low level by the end of the summer. The great response by Lighthouse Christian Center helps CRBS maintain an adequate supply for our community.
Special thanks to Anne Jones, Lighthouse’s Office Manager who has served as our blood drive coordinator. We also want to thank the Lighthouse Pastoral Staff, and the entire church community for their generosity and support.
July
Young Professionals Network
Cascade Regional Blood Services would like to congratulate Melissa Buckingham and the Young Professionals Network (YPN) with the “Blood Drive of the Month” award for July 2010. The YPN organization has been a dedicated supporter of CRBS the past two years. YPN partners with different Tacoma area businesses to host and conduct their blood drives on a regular basis. They also offer support for CRBS and our community by spreading the word about the need for blood donations. Their drives have all been extremely successful, offering a wide variety of locations and donors. We appreciate all the heart and soul YPN puts into their drives.
YPN will be helping CRBS once again as a sponsor of the 2010-2011 “Give Blood Get Beer” blood drives. Thank you Melissa and the Young Professionals Network for all your hard work and dedication to such a great cause!

May
City of Federal Way
The City of Federal Way and the Federal Way Community Center have partnered with Cascade Regional Blood Services in saving lives in our community for the past several years. Blood drives are scheduled quarterly at alternating locations. The City of Federal Way is being honored as the CRBS Blood Drive of the Month for the month of May, due to the outstanding results of their most recent drive and their long term support of CRBS, St. Francis Hospital, and other area hospitals.
CRBS conducts about 100 mobile drives monthly. Each month, one drive is selected for their support, dedication, loyalty and hard work as a regular blood drive sponsor. It is only because of volunteer blood donors that CRBS can provide blood products to the hospitals we serve in South King and Pierce Counties.
CRBS is the sole provider of all blood products to St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way. Congratulations to the City of Federal Way and the Federal Way Community Center, and thank you for supporting your community blood center.
