Megan Johnson, CRBS donor resources consultant presents Linda Doelle, longtime blood drive coordinator at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, with a Blood Drive of the Month plaque.
Cascade Regional Blood Services would like to congratulate its November 2011 Blood Drive of the Month: Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Puyallup. Pilgrim Lutheran’s members have conducted blood drives as often as four times per year with CRBS since 1995. Their most recent drive, which took place Nov. 9, 2011, registered 18 donors.
CRBS would like to extend special thanks to Linda Doelle, who has coordinated blood drives for Pilgrim Lutheran for years. Her passion and energy are very much appreciated. “I never have to ask or remind Linda what needs to be done; she just does it,” said Megan Johnson, donor resources consultant for CRBS. And, the drives are always successful.
Pilgrim Lutheran’s dedication has helped CRBS continue its support of Pierce and South King County hospitals and clinics, including MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup. CRBS extends its deep gratitude to all of our community supporters like Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Thank you for your dedication to saving lives.
City of Tacoma
Cascade Regional Blood Services presented its October 2011 Blood Drive of the Month award to the City of Tacoma. The City of Tacoma has continuously supported the community’s blood supply for more than 15 years by hosting blood drives every 56 days. Longtime blood donor Jennifer Kammerzell, who has coordinated the blood drive for 11 years, said the blood drives are a great way to fulfill one of the city’s missions: to give back to the community. “It’s so easy because CRBS comes to us,” she said.
At its award-winning drive on October 19, 2011, 22 donors were registered. Kammerzell described the drive as going above and beyond, which made receiving the award exciting. “It’s nice to be recognized,” she said. “It reminds us that it’s important.”
CRBS is deeply grateful for Kammerzell and all its loyal donors at the City of Tacoma. Your dedication and support are heroic!

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Puyallup Stake
Cascade Regional Blood Services awarded the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Puyallup Stake, with its Blood Drive of the Month award for August 2011. Debbie Landry, humanitarian projects coordinator for the Lake Tapps Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sumner, coordinated the drive which took place Aug. 23, 2011. With a goal of 35 donors, Landry exceeded her goal and registered 39!
The church’s Relief Society, a women’s organization, is always looking for service projects in the community to sponsor, and CRBS blood drives fit the society’s motto, “charity never faileth.”
“I can’t think of another project we have done where we were actually helping to save people’s lives,” Landry said. “What could be more humanitarian than that?”
Landry has coordinated three blood drives for CRBS now and has reached her donor goal each time with tireless enthusiasm and effort. “She does not see obstacles, only new opportunities,” said Megan Johnson, CRBS donor resources consultant.
CRBS would like to express its deep appreciation for volunteers and donors like Landry who help CRBS provide blood products to Good Samaritan and our other area hospitals and clinics. We look forward to working with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Puyallup Stake in the future.
Camp Murray
The Blood Drive of the Month award is presented to sponsor groups based on the length of time they have been sponsoring drives, the long-term success of their drives, overall support for CRBS, and their current drive results. Cascade Regional Blood Services is proud to give this award for July 2011 to Camp Murray.
Camp Murray has supported CRBS and patients in our area hospitals for more than 10 years as regular blood drive sponsors. At times, when the number of donors has been down because of a lack of people at the installation, Camp Murray has continued its support and always does what it can to encourage people to donate. Mistina Venesky serves as Blood Drive Coordinator and helps to organize six blood drives each year.
CRBS helps to support Madigan Army Medical Center with blood products and appreciates the support Camp Murray provides for all our area hospitals and clinics.
