The two-day blood drive at Todd Beamer High School was extremely successful, as always. Over the course of both days, there were 178 students registered! The Advisory Class was the blood drive sponsor, and they did an amazing job of signing up students.
The Advisory Group encountered a few challenges while signing up students for the blood drive. The PA system malfunctioned and some of the fliers and posters were misplaced. Despite the challenges, the Advisory Group persevered and signed up students the old fashioned way, one-on-one recruiting. Their success is a testament to the hard work and determination of each Advisory Group member. Cascade Regional Blood Services would also like to thanks Mr. Scott Haines, head of the Advisory Group.
Todd Beamer High School helps Cascade Regional Blood Services maintain an adequate blood supply to St. Francis Hospital, as well as our other community hospitals. We are looking forward to our next blood drive with the Titans, currently scheduled for May 20 and 21, 2009
Todd Beamer High School held a two-day blood drive on May 21 & 22; the drive went extremely well. Over the two days, 245 people were registered! TBHS held the record for the largest CRBS drive and this drive exceeded that previous record which they set last year. This is an amazing accomplishment and Cascade Regional Blood Services is very grateful for the hard work of the students and staff.
The drive was sponsored by the Leadership group. The committee had many volunteers who were extremely well organized and worked hard from the planning stage right through to the end. As a result, the drive went extremely smooth and everyone had fun! The leadership group is led by advisor Scott Haines, who always does a fantastic job of getting the students involved and making sure it is fun as well as very successful.
Cascade Regional Blood Services is very much looking forward to the next drive at Todd Beamer High School. We appreciate the great support that Scott and the entire school provides for CRBS. That support enables us to be able to provide the blood products needed at St. Francis and the other area hospitals that we serve.

The first drive of the year for Todd Beamer was another huge success. Scott Haines, the Leadership Class Instructor, assembled another fantastic committee with Jessica Pak serving as committee chair for the drive. The group was described as being extremely responsible, organized and committed to supporting Cascade Regional Blood Services, St. Francis Hospital and other hospitals in their community. They got the word out, which resulted in 101 donors registering the first day and 105 the second. Even though this was short of their record and fell one donor short of the results from a year ago, this is the largest drive of the school year so far for CRBS.
What started out as an unexpected challenge, ended up working out extremely well. Due to paperwork being submitted late, the area where the drive was to take place wasn’t available for use on the drive days. This caused some unwanted stress. However, everyone got together and came up with a great plan that involved using blood mobiles, the activity room and lobby area for registering donors. The weather was cooperative and the plan was executed to perfection.
Jessica noted that the flow of donors from station to station was exceptionally smooth, the overall drive was a great experience and certainly a success. The committee members felt the experience was good for all donors and are looking forward to them all coming back for their spring drive when they will be shooting to exceed their record of 248 from spring of 2007.

The Todd Beamer Leadership Class, under the guidance of advisor Scott Haines, once again set a new record for registering the most donors at a high school drive for Cascade Regional Blood Services. This is the largest high school effort in Cascade Regional Blood Services’ history, eclipsing their own previous record from October of 2005 by 26 donors.
High school and college students account for about 25% of the blood collected by CRBS for hospitals in South King and Pierce Counties, which makes this effort especially noteworthy. Students in Scott’s Leadership Class coordinated the large scale effort by coordinating, marketing, scheduling donors, and registering all 248 blood donors as one of their class projects.
Congratulations and thank you to Todd Beamer High School.

The 2006 fall drive at Todd Beamer High School resulted in 207 donors participating, 118 of which donated for the first time! Several staff members participated and students even recruited their parents to come in and donate. It was truly a great team effort and demonstrated how well the Beamer group works together, as well as the great results they are capable of achieving. The units collected will go to St. Francis Hospital and other area hospitals where it will be used to help save and improve the lives of patients from our region. This is the second highest total ever for a Cascade Regional Blood Services’ drive in the S. King and Pierce County region. The largest drive is also owned by the Beamer Leadership Class and took place last fall. While the total this time was not quite as large, this was still a phenomenal effort and sets the bar at a very high level.

Under Scott Haines’ guidance, the leadership group did another excellent job of assuring this drive was an overwhelming success. Samantha Bowman is the chair of the leadership group. As usual, the group carried out their assignments efficiently and completely. This was a solid performance from the beginning of the drive planning process several weeks ago, through the end of the drive. Members of their blood drive team arrived at school and started set up at 6:30 in the morning, and were there till the last of the clean up was done at the completion of the drive.

Scott is already looking forward to the next drive and planning on ways to eclipse their record. We are looking forward to that next drive also, when we will again have the opportunity to work with the great group at Todd Beamer High School.
