Decatur High School- September 10, 2008

The Decatur High School Key Club stepped up again this year and sponsored the first high school drive of the new school year. Not only did they recruit and sign up donors prior to the drive, they also worked hard to reschedule them once the hours of the drive changed unexpectedly. The blood drive was truly a team effort, with the leadership of the Key Club members and Sue Inglis, the school nurse. The team was able to register 58 donors in three and a half hours! A special thanks to the new Key Club advisor, Robin Chapman.

Our community relies heavily on the contributions of schools to help provide an adequate supply throughout the year for St. Francis and our other area hospitals serviced by Cascade Regional Blood Services. The summer months are challenging for that reason, and we know we can always count on DHS to get us going the first part of the each new school year.

The blood drives at Decatur High School are a huge help to the communities of South King and Pierce Counties. With their help, we are able to maintain an adequate blood supply to our community hospitals. We very much look forward to our next blood drive at Decatur High School, scheduled for November 19.

Decatur High School – September 14, 2007

As usual, Decatur High School stepped up and was the first public high school blood drive of the new school year. Last year, Decatur was also our first drive and did a fantastic job throughout the year. Decatur High School is a long time supporter of CRBS, St. Francis and our other area hospitals. The work their advisors and student groups do is a great example of service to others and our community.

During this drive, Suzanne Endroedy and the Key Club did another fantastic job by registering 80 donors. This early in the year, it’s hard to get everyone organized and interested in a special activity. However, they were extremely successful with a 40% increase over the results of a year ago. It’s great to have Decatur and all our schools back after the summer. We are looking forward to our next drive at DHS on November 20. This is another critical time right before a long Thanksgiving holiday weekend when their support is extremely valuable and appreciated.
