Community Relations Specialist 

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Donor Resources Community Relations Specialist’s primary responsibilities are to create awareness of and support for CRBS in the communities and groups we serve. Their support will ensure CRBS collection goals and the mission of serving our communities are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES:

  • Coordinate and facilitate programs and activities that will help us meet collection goals in all areas of our operation.
  • Assist/support with activities that will help each Consultant and Scheduler reach their goals.
  • Monitor progress towards short and long term CRBS goals/projects.
  • Maintain and further develop existing CRBS programs, as well as creating additional programs with the support of the DDR and ADDR.
  • Establish new and maintain existing community contacts while promoting the CRBS mission and developing partnerships.
  • Timely performance of clerical duties related to proper preparation and support for programs.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Maintain records in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains confidentially at all times.
  • Maintains CRBS image by wearing appropriate attire and having good grooming standards.
  • Actively participates in establishing and maintaining at all times, a positive professional attitude towards donors, the public, volunteers and fellow employees.
  • Actively supports CRBS management goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience Required:

  • One year in a position that includes customer service/relations is preferred

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work well with others and also without close supervision.
  • Must have proven excellent customer service skills in previous positions.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including public speaking ability.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills to support required clerical functions
  • Is capable of lifting 40 pounds with or without accommodation

Required:

  • Valid WA state driver’s license with a good driving record (Only if pertains to position).
  • Regular attendance and arriving to work on time.

Donor Specialist 1

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Donor Specialist l performs all aspects of Whole Collection at all collection sites, while under directions of the Lead Donor Specialist.

  • Adherence to all policies, SOPs, regulatory guidelines, safety and cGMP requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES:

  • Adherence to all policies, SOP’s, regulatory guidelines, safety and cGMP requirements
  • Meet minimum department performance standards as applicable
  • Donor Registration
  • Interviews donors with knowledge of written medical guidelines and uses good professional judgment in acceptance or deferral of donors
  • Takes histories sufficiently to ensure donor flow
  • Performs review of all donors records for accuracy, and for information regarding duplicate records and deferrals
  • Performs donor physical exam which include temperature, blood pressure, Hgb/Hct and pulse
  • Observes donor for signs of anxiety, illness, fatigue, and uses interviewing skills to elicit honest and complete answers from donors
  • Counsels donors privately when abnormal findings are discovered during history interview
  • Responds to donor’s questions to their satisfaction about health without giving medical advice or unduly increasing their anxiety
  • Is able to perform venipuncture successfully and recognize signs of difficult draws, hermatomas, or injuries, and is able to make necessary adjustments
  • Is able to provide safety and good customer service to multiple donors throughout the donation process.
  • Is able to recognize and prevent or mange donor reactions
  • Instructs all donors on post donation care
  • Can perform all duties to prepare samples and/or units of blood processing.
  • Ability to perform clerical functions relevant to duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintains records in accordance with established procedures and regulations
  • Assists in training and orientation of staff
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  • Duties as assigned related to the donations process including, but not limited to:
    • Donor recruitment and retention
    • Maintenance of work area, equipment and supplies
    • Quality Control issues
    • Supportive documentation
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times
  • Maintains CRBS image by wearing appropriate attire and having good grooming standards
  • Actively participates in establishing and maintaining at all times, a positive professional attitude toward donors, the public, volunteers and fellow employees

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant – Certified or Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist Certified (Washington State)

Experience Required:

  • Computer Proficient
  • Prefer knowledge of blood services

Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to retain focus and maintain accuracy in a high pressure environment
  • Ability to work in confined area
  • Interpersonal skills to interface effectively with internal and external customers
  • Is capable of lifting 50 pounds with or without accommodation

Required:

  • Valid WA state driver’s license with a good driving record (Only if pertains to position)
  • Regular attendance and arriving to work on time

 

Donor Scheduler

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Donor Scheduler primarily calls previous donors to schedule whole blood appointments for Donor Centers and mobile drives to ensure individual as well as current and ongoing collection goals of CRBS are met. They also make donor call, including but not limited to, calling no-shows, appointment reminders and cold calling.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES:

  • Make calls from call lists and set appointments for donors, following established procedures
  • Monitor appointment needs at fixed sites and drives. Actively recruit donors to meet set goals
  • Be aware of upcoming mobiles so the mobile information can be provided and appointments set
  • Understand medical history questions so that appropriate answers and referrals are made when talking with donors
  • Maintain donor records, following established procedures
  • Perform clerical functions relevant to job duties
  • Provide refreshment area and mobile drive support when needed
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Maintain records in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Additional duties as assigned, which may include but is not limited to calling for special needs
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Maintain CRBS image by wearing appropriate attire and having good grooming standards
  • Actively participate in establishing and maintaining at all times, a positive professional attitude toward donors, the public, volunteers and fellow employees

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:  High School diploma or equivalent

Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in a call center or similar customer service position is desirable

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have proven excellent customer service skills in previous positions
  • Basic computer and keyboard skills to support required clerical functions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to stay focused on assigned tasks for long period is necessary for this position

Laboratory Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE:  

The Laboratory Assistant will manufacture blood components from donor blood, label and irradiate blood products, conduct quality control on laboratory equipment, receive orders, pack and ship blood products to customers. As is necessary prepare donor blood samples for shipment to CRBS contract laboratory for testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES:

  • Prepares blood components such as whole blood, leukoreduced red blood cells, liquid and frozen plasma products, according to standard operating procedures utilizing a variety of specialized equipment (i.e., refrigerated centrifuges, plasma expressers, heat sealers and sterile connecting device)
  • Labels and irradiates blood components according to standard operating procedures
  • Answers phone, receives and processes customer orders, packs blood products for shipment and arrange for distribution of packages to customers
  • Ship recovered plasma to fractionators and provide administrative support of recalls of donor products through specialized recall procedures
  • Performs quality control tests on equipment used in the manufacture and storage of blood components.
  • Creates and maintains records concurrently during the manufacturing processes to meet regulatory requirements for blood product manufacturing
  • May schedule pick-ups of blood from satellites and mobile locations for timely component production.
  • Prepare donor blood samples for shipment to contract testing laboratory for testing
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  • Assists in training and orientation of staff
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times
  • Maintains CRBS image by wearing appropriate attire and having good grooming standards
  • Actively participates in establishing and maintaining at all times, a positive professional attitude toward donors, the public, volunteers and fellow employees

Part-Time Donor Specialist 20-30 Hours Per Week

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Donor Specialist I performs all aspects of Whole Collection at all collection sites, while under direction of the Lead Donor Specialist.
May be trained to perform automated collections, depending on individual performance and CRBS needs.
